26 July.
Flew Wellington to Brisbane on Air New Zealand - Business Class upgrade using Airpoints. At Brisbane Airport, we picked up our hire car and drove to Maroochydore where we were booked into the Myconos Resort for 11 nights.
Once unpacked we drove to Allan and Barbara Nichols, who were a couple of kilometres north at Crystal Waters Resort at Picnic Point, to have a BBQ lunch with them, Alan and Alison Lough, and local friends of theirs, Graham and Barbara.
Had a good drive and walk around the area including the Mooloolaba Area just south of Maroochydore.
28 July.
Don’t remember what we did but we didn’t take any photos that day!
Drove north to the Eumundi Market, then visited the Bundaberg Ginger Factory and the Macadamia Nutworks across the road.
30 July.
Visited the Australia Zoo and then went for a drive around the Glass Mountains area
Drove up to Montville, a small art and craft village. The drove north to visit
the Mapleton Falls, then back south again to visit a cheese factory and the
little town of Maleny. At Maleny we drove down to Lake Baroon, a large dammed
reservoir.
This morning we visited a large plant nursery in Buderim and then spent a few hours walking in both ends of Buderim Park. On the way home we visited the Sunshine Coast Airport – quite new and small but with a lot of additional buildings in progress.
Visited the market in Noosa, then walked around downtown and later walked out to
the Headland in
Noosa
National Park
(about 4 km each way).

This
morning we walked to Mooloolaba to visit Underwater World (about 5 km) for an
interesting tour, including a “behind the Scenes” Tour. Then walked somewhat
further to have lunch at one of the seafood eating places at the end of the road
down the spit.
4 August.
Visited Kerryn’s Fabric World and wandered around the big Sunshine Plaza
shopping mall.
5 August.
Visited the Eumundi Central Markets again! and visited the Australian Nougat
Company close by.
6 August.
Last day. We drove to the eastern side of
Brisbane and caught a
ferry boat up the river to downtown
Brisbane.
Had a good walk through the city and down the south bank river park. Caught the
ferry back to where we had parked the car, returned the rental car to their
depot nearby and they shuttled us to the airport and home.
